LociTerm Quick Start

Connecting From A Web Page

Game administrators can provide a link to their own local LociTerm instances, or they may provide a link to another LociTerm host like LociTerm.com. Look for links located on the game's web page.

For example, you could click HERE or on LociTerm> to connect to the LociTerm.com server's default game.

Another alternative is to select a game from the LociTerm.com Home Page. The page shows some of the more active games that LociTerm knows about and keeps track of. If you are looking for a game that is being developed, or for a game that has other players using LociTerm, it is a great place to start. Click on one of the card images to launch LociTerm for that game.

Connecting From Inside LociTerm

Game Server
Game Server Selection
Lociterm lets you select a different Game Server from within the settings menu. To get there, hit the Gear button (⚙) 🠚 Settings 🠚 Game Server. From there, you can browse games from the list, get information about them, and get a connection button. Connecting to a game will reset your game server, and LociTerm will remember your choice for next time.

Suggesting a New Game

Game Server
Suggestion
If the game you want to connect to doesn't appear in the list, you can suggest a new game from the Game Server list window. You'll need to provide a hostname, port, and indicate whether that port requires SSL or not. Note that LociTerm servers can have different policies around new game suggestions. Some are 'closed servers' and may not allow suggestions at all. Some, like LociTerm.com, may require that the game speaks the Telnet protocol. Others may require that the game speaks the Mud Server Stats Protocol as indication that the suggestion is a MUD, and not a general telnet login. Most LociTerm servers will deny access to well known non-game port numbers. If your game suggestion does not connect, you may need to contact the LociTerm server operator to get it manually approved.

Setting Login Information

Login Window
Login Window
Once you've chosen a new game to play, you can enter your login and password information from (⚙) 🠚 Login, and LociTerm will will remember it until you leave the page. If the "Remember Me" button is checked, LociTerm will keep the login information in your browser cache for the next time you log in.

The "Auto Login" button works with games that support the GMCP.Char.Login protocol. If checked, LociTerm will automatically log you in when the game asks for credentials.

If the game doesn't support GMCP.Char.Login, the "Login" button will be replaced with a "Send Text" button. When the game asks for your login, hitting "Send Text" will send both the Username and Password.

LociTerm remembers login information per game, so that you don't have to re-enter your credentials every time you change Game Servers. Game Server login credentials for automatic login are stored in your browser's local storage only when the 'remember me' option is checked, and are never stored on, or logged by the LociTerm proxy server.
